The 40th Aizu Hometown Artisans Festival
~From the hands of the makers to the hands of the users~
The Furusato Aizu Kojin Festival is an event in the nature-rich Okuaizu where more than 100 makers from across Japan gather.
It began in 1986, coinciding with the opening of the Living Crafts Museum.
In Mishima Town, creators who devote themselves to making things using natural materials are collectively called 「工人(こうじん)」.
Craftspeople who create Okuaizu braided crafts, as well as other plaited works, woodwork, ceramics, glass, and metalworking, bring their own creations and set up their stalls.
